Stepping off the Merry Go Round

After a frantic spell of vintage fairs, local and national events from ENKCA's annual strawberry walk - a short ramble followed by a huge cream tea of scones, pancakes and cakes liberally packed with fresh cream and strawberries or strawberry jam - to the Royal Highland Show, social events from Cortachy SWRI 90th birthday party in Cortachy Castle to a Golden Wedding garden party, family days with the ones we see regularly and the ones who are home from afar, a roller coaster search for a new car and long days cutting an acre of grass with powered tools and a vintage wooden scythe (and raking it up and carting it away), after all that, it is a relief to look forward to a quiet weekend.
No, not a sentimental accompaniment to my tale but a much appreciated innovation at the most recent fair, Knittykittybangbang's craft and vintage market at Inverbervie. The music was uplifting, played by stall holder, Fenella Flirt aka Ruth, on the right (sorry I don't have other musician's name) Excellent work and all power to your elbows, ladies.
I was lucky to have a glamorous assistant for part of the day, my niece Grace, who travelled from Aberdeen to adorn the stall and enjoy the event.
Organiser, Carolyn's mum travelled from Orkney to help and to run the raffle which raised £95 for Motor Neurone Disease
I tried out a new circular clothes hanger /rail when Carolyn said she was unsure of space, but it was not successful, so I reverted to the traditional, lightweight rail I normally use.
There was not a lot of interest in clothes, but I sold some crockery.
Sales were not easy, and a neighbouring stall holder thanked me for helping with one of hers, when I explained to a doubtful customer the benefit of a  synthetic fibre incorporated for longevity into a woollen sock yarn . She said that after querying her array of hand knitted socks in glorious self patterning yarns, the lady eventually bought a card!
Public and stall holders were friendly and cheerful - nice to meet Magda (whose painted furniture is above) again and all the stall holders round my own stall. I saw some new stalls and met people I'd seen on FB so it was a nice day out - with a pleasant musical interlude.
